World Student Games. World Student Games (Universiade)

Both public student sports and non-sports organizations and associations are actively involved in the organization and conduct of educational and training work and sports competitions for students outside of the classroom. From the activity of an intra-university public organization - sports club of the university largely depends on the sports life of students in the educational institution. The administration and the department of physical education provide him with possible material, methodological and practical assistance both in the work of individual sports sections and groups, and in the organization and conduct of competitions. A significant role in the organization of interuniversity sports competitions is played by the public association of students and employees of higher educational institutions - Russian student sports union (established at the end of 1993) and its regional organizations. Its Charter states that the main goal of the Union is to consolidate the efforts of all interested organizations in the development of physical culture and health work, student sports, harmonization of physical and spiritual education, strengthening the health of student youth in higher educational institutions and training athletes to participate in competitions at various levels. It is according to the results of student sports competitions held by the Union that the composition of the student team for Russian and international sports competitions is determined. The Russian Student Sports Union maintains international student sports ties. He is a collective member International University Sports Federation (FISU), which aims to promote:

    the development of student sports at all levels;

    physical and spiritual education of students;

    bringing together students from all countries and their cooperation in the interests of the unity of international university sports.

One of the objectives of FISU is to organize international student sports competitions in various sports. According to the FISU Student Sports Commission, at the beginning of the 90s. among students of all countries, the most popular sports were football, volleyball, athletics, basketball and swimming. However, the programs of the fisu Universiades, held every two years, the fisu championships include a much larger number of sports and periodically undergo some changes. The collapse of the USSR was followed by a period of protracted reorganization of the student sports movement. With the organization of the Russian Sports Union at the end of 1993, Russian students take their first independent steps in the international student sports movement on a completely different organizational basis and different material and technical support.

8.Olympic Games and Universiades

The Olympic Games and Universiade are two of the largest multisport competitions that symbolize the concepts of "fair play" and "true sports spirit". The World Student Games is an analogue of the Olympics at the student level. In terms of the number of participating countries and the number of athletes, the Universiade is comparable to the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games and the Universiade are inextricably linked. We can say that the World Student Games serve as a forge of personnel for the Olympics, because more than 60% of the participants in the Universiade continue to participate in the Olympic Games. Many famous athletes achieved success both at the Olympic Games and at the Universiade, including basketball player Sergei Belov, discus thrower Tamara Press, high jumper Valery Brummel, volleyball player Vyacheslav Zaitsev. Nikolay Andrianov is also on the list of champions. The great Soviet gymnast became a six-time Universiade champion and climbed the podium 15 times at the three Summer Olympic Games in Munich, Montreal and Moscow. The last athlete who succeeded in the gold double was the rhythmic gymnast Evgenia Kanaeva, who won gold at the Olympic Games and Universiade, respectively, in 2008 and 2009. The Universiade is the second most important and representative international complex sports event after the Olympic Games. The Universiade is held every two years, and is attended by students and graduate students aged 17 to 28 years. For the first time, the World Student Games were organized in Paris in May 1923 by Jean Petitjan (Jean Petitjan intended to call them "University Olympic Games", but Pierre de Coubertin persuaded him to give the games a different name). The games were organized under the auspices of the International Confederation of Students (ICS), formed in 1924 in Warsaw.

In 1959, the first joint (ICS and FISU) World Student Games were organized in Turin.

The Italian delegation proposed a new name for the Games - "Universiade", meaning: "universality", "unity", "university". It was also decided to sing the student anthem "Gaudeamus" ("Gaudeamus Igitur") in honor of the winners of the Games. Since 1960, the World Winter Universiades have been held. The mascot of the games first appeared at the 1981 Winter Universiade. Nowadays, every student games necessarily have their own mascot. In the USSR, the Universiade was held only once - in 1973 in Moscow. 23rd Winter Universiade took place from 17 to 27 January 2007 in Turin (Italy). 24th Winter Universiade took place from February 19 to March 1, 2009 in the city of Harbin (People's Republic of China). The youth hockey team of Russia, mainly consisting of hockey players from Tatarstan, took first place. 25th Winter Universiade will be held in the city of Erzurum (Turkey) from 12 to 22 February 2011, 26th - in the city of Maribor (Slovenia) in January 2013 of the year. 24th Summer Universiade took place from 8 to 18 August 2007 in Bangkok (Thailand). 25th Summer Universiade took place from July 1 to July 12, 2009 in the city of Belgrade (Serbia). 26th Summer Universiade will be held in the city of Shenzhen (China), 27th -in the city of Kazan (Russia). The record for the number of participants at the Summer Universiades - 7 805 people - was set at the 22 Summer Universiade in August 2005 in Izmir (Turkey), and the record for the number of countries represented - 174 countries - in 2003 in Daegu (South Korea). Soviet students have participated in the Universiades since 1957. World champions V. Brumel, I. Ter-Ovanesyan, I. Press, T. Press and others were the champions of the Universiades. In 1957 in the USSR the All-Union DSO "Burevestnik" was created, which in 1959 became part of FISU. Since 1994, the Russian Student Sports Union (RCCS) has been the legal successor of the Burevestnik DSO. At present, the RCCS is headed by Oleg Vasilievich Matytsin. In August 2005, for the first time in the history of the Summer Universiades, the Russian team took 1st place in the unofficial team classification. A team of 415 athletes won 65 medals, of which 26 were gold.

Collegiate sports have almost as long a history as the Olympic movement. Already in 1905, the first International Student Competitions were held in the United States. In 1919, the International Confederation of Students was created by the Frenchman Jean Ptijean, and its creator negotiated with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to hold special student Olympiads.

Own road

The IOC did not agree to this. As a result, in 1923, the World Student Games were born in Paris. They changed their name several times: Student World Championship, International Student Sports Week, World University Games. At first, they were exclusively summer, over time, winter ones began to be held. Even in Nazi Germany, an alternative appeared in the form of the sports program of the World Festival of Youth and Students. By the way, the Soviet Union supported the idea of the festival, not the championships. In 1953 the Festival was held in Moscow.

After World War II (in 1949), the unified International Federation of University (University) Sports (FISU) was finally created. She set as her goal the organization of a single world competition for students, and the strengthening of relationships with the IOC and higher education institutions around the world.

By 1959, it was possible to create the truly first world student Olympiad. She was given a name composed of two keywords - university and olympiad.

In 1960, the first winter Universiade was held in the capital of the first French Chamonix.

Since then, 28 winter competitions have passed. They were received mainly by small towns in mountainous areas, where there are good conditions for practicing winter sports. Most often these were towns in the Italian Alps, but the capitals also hosted competitions.

In general, Soviet and Russian students dominated the Universiades. The indigenous sports from the very beginning were ski jumping, Nordic combined, figure skating, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing. Then they added hockey, speed skating and biathlon. In modern times, curling, snowboarding, short track and freestyle, which are popular among the youth, have been added.

A short list of the Winter Universiades can be found below.

Krasnoyarsk - the new capital

The second largest city in Siberia has a special mission in connection with such a significant event.

First, large international events are rare for Siberia. We can only recall biathlon starts in the Tyumen region, the student world chess championship in Novokuznetsk, the world bandy championships in Khabarovsk, Kemerovo and Irkutsk, as well as international tournaments in the same game in Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Abakan, Irkutsk, Khabarovsk. Thus, the Universiade symbolizes a new stage in the development of the largest region of Russia.

Secondly, Krasnoyarsk is a city of enormous industrial and, therefore, defense significance. Therefore, the access of foreigners to this city was previously very limited. Thus, the Universiade in Krasnoyarsk will become another symbol of Russia's openness and peacefulness.

Third, the Winter Universiade in Russia will be held for the first time.

Debut

At the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, two sports will debut for the first time in the program: ball hockey, the favorite in Siberia, and ski orienteering.

Some started preparing at the age of 4

It should be noted that some young athletes begin to prepare for the Universiade from a young age. Don't underestimate the popularity of winter sports!

Will build a city of sports

To host the World Winter Universiade, the city is already completing a complete reconstruction of sports facilities, including:

  • Winter Sports Academy. It includes the Sopka sports complex, the Snezhny sports block, the half-pipe of ski and freestyle tracks, the Freestyle block, the Rainbow sports complex, the Ski block, the ski stadium, and the Gorny block. It will host freestyle, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and orienteering.
  • Sports and recreation park "Bobrovy Log". Alpine skiing competitions will be held here.

  • Sports complex "Platinum Arena". The opening ceremony and competition for
  • Ice arena "Crystal". Will host hockey tournaments.
  • Complex "Academy of Biathlon". The name speaks for itself.
  • The Arena-North complex will host a short track.
  • An ice curling hall will be equipped in the famous Ivan Yarygin Wrestling Sports Palace.
  • After reconstruction, the Yenisei stadium (a large ice field will be covered with a roof and the stands will be re-equipped) will host bandy matches.
  • Indoor skating rink "Pervomaisky" will be waiting for ice hockey matches.
  • The Rassvet ice arena also appears as a reserve and training ground for the puck players.

In short, the World Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk will be held fully armed.

Sport unites millions of people and the most diverse nations of our planet. In order to attract as many people and even non-professional athletes to it, sports competitions were founded among students. They were first held back in 1924, but at that time they did not receive the necessary popularity and were suspended during the war.

Historical facts

Students of prestigious universities learned what the Universiade is thanks to the desire of the French politician Jacques Petejan to motivate nations to educate a sports generation, although the games were called quite differently then.

Under his leadership, the first ever competition was held in the capital of Poland. After that, the Universiade was held in several more cities, but due to military actions, their cycle was stopped.

Only after the end of World War II, the games were resumed under the leadership of the Students' Union. In 1949, the International University Sports Federation was created, which took over the organizational activities and is engaged in the games to this day. Its office is located in Brussels and its main focus is sports promotion.

The real name of the competition was received at the official level only in 1957, together with the motto “Science. Sport. Friendship. Peace".

We are gaining momentum

The sports Universiade became a prestigious event only in 1959, when it was held under the leadership of the World Federation of Democratic Youth and the International Union of Students.

The main goal of sports games then was to unite peoples who were at enmity during the Cold War.

The first Summer Universiade at that time was held in Turin. Subsequent competitions in winter sports were held the following year in France. It was these games that laid the foundation for all the traditions of student competitions, which are still maintained. The main difference from the most prestigious sports competitions is that during the awarding ceremony and the announcement of the results of the Universiade, a student march is played, and not the anthem of the winning country. The number of players in the competition is growing every year, as is the list of sports included in the games program.

What is the Universiade?

The competition got its name from the merger of the words "olympiad" and "university". Today, such an analogue of the Olympic Games is the second most prestigious and significant in the field of international sports. The cycle of games is calculated for two years. Just like at the Olympics, there are separate competitions in summer and winter sports.

What is the Universiade for Students? First of all, the opportunity to travel outside their country and defend the honor of their homeland in the world sports arena, even without having a sports qualification. All university students, their graduate students and graduates under the age of 28 are allowed to participate in the games.

The main condition for the latter is that their editions must precede the ongoing Universiade (two previous editions).

Summer sports

The Summer Universiade today includes 13 compulsory types of competitions. Among them are team ones: water polo, basketball, volleyball, football, as well as martial arts:

  • judo;
  • fencing;
  • tennis on the court;
  • artistic and artistic gymnastics;
  • table tennis;
  • diving;
  • athletics;
  • swimming.

Winter competitions

Among the obligatory winter types of competitions, these competitions play awards in a smaller list of games. So, among them:

  • speed skating and alpine skiing;
  • curling;
  • ski race;
  • figure skating;
  • biathlon;
  • ice hockey;
  • short track.

If desired, the host of the competition can add to this list auxiliary types of competitions, which must be previously approved by FISU and meet all international requirements.

In the future, these sports may well add to the mandatory list. For example, volleyball at the Universiade was initially represented only by men's teams. The women's category only appeared in games in 1961.

History of the national Universiade

Our athletes traditionally took part in all competitions, except for the 1967 Universiade. For the first time, it was only in 1973 that it was possible to be honored to host the games in our country. Then the USSR hosted summer competitions.

Modern Russia was able to experience what the Universiade is only in 2013, when Kazan hosted the second summer games. In the future, Krasnoyarsk is preparing to host winter competitions for the first time in history. The capital of Siberia undertakes to welcome guests and participants of the games in March 2019.

Achievements of domestic athletes

Throughout the history of the Universiade, the results of domestic athletes were able to bring the USSR and Russia to the first position in the team classification of the summer games 14 times. Considering that such competitions were held only 28 times in all the time, then Russia today is the undoubted leader. In the winter competitions, Russia also received the leading line in the medal standings the same number of times.

Preparing for future competitions

The summer competitions between students in 2017 are over and now it is necessary to prepare diligently for the next. Back in November 2013, Krasnoyarsk was chosen to host the next Winter Universiade. The city will receive guests in March, when real winter is still raging in the region. This is probably why the slogan of future competitions will be "Real winter" or "Welcome to winter".

A three-dimensional polyhedron representing a snowball and made in the colors of the Russian flag was approved as the logo of the games. The figure will also include five Olympic stars, representing the five continents of our planet.

The capital of Siberia plans to host up to ten thousand guests during the competition, including at least 3 thousand athletes. In addition to the sports facilities already available in Krasnoyarsk, 2 more ice palaces are planned to be built to meet all the requirements of the international organization.

The competition program will include all major sports, and it is also planned to introduce 2 additional ones. Among them are orienteering and freestyle.

Conclusion

The Universiade is a unique opportunity for students to feel the atmosphere of big sport and show their skills on the world stage. Competitions of this level provide an opportunity to make new acquaintances, recharge with the atmosphere of sports and youth, and learn from your own experience what a competitive spirit is!

All the popular sports that we have been playing since childhood: football, hockey, basketball, tennis, swimming, volleyball - the Universiade united in competitions for young people. This is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in such a large-scale event, even without being professional athletes. All participants in the games in the future will be able not only to boast of their sports achievements, but also to work for the good of their homeland in their main profession.

This is probably why the Universiade was so popular in Soviet times. Games gave young people the opportunity to look behind the Iron Curtain and make new acquaintances.

Today, the main goal of the competition is to educate a sports generation that would pay attention to their physical development, since the age of modern technologies is gradually transferring all our achievements to the digital world, leaving no room for live communication.

Introduction

Relevance of the topic. The youth analogue of the Olympics, the World Student Sports Games or simply the Universiade has been the second most important and comprehensive international event in the world sports arena for more than 50 years. The Universiade is an international sports competition among students, held under the auspices of the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name "Universiade" comes from the words "University" and "Olympics". Unlike the four-year Olympic cycle, the student competition is held every two years. Students, postgraduates and graduates of the two previous editions aged 17 to 28 are allowed to participate in the competition. The Universiade program includes compulsory and optional (additional) sports.

The list of compulsory sports for each Student Games is approved by FISU prior to the start of the entry campaign. The inclusion of additional sports is made at the request of the host (the host of the Universiade), provided that the sports meet all the requirements of the International University Sports Federation. During the Winter Universiade 2019, awards will be played out in 8 compulsory sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing , ice hockey, short track, snowboard, figure skating, curling. At the moment, there are two optional types of programs: orienteering and freestyle.

The International University Sports Federation has currently approved the following capitals of the World Winter Games - Granada (Spain) / Strbske Pleso (Slovakia) - 2015, Almaty (Kazakhstan) - 2017, Krasnoyarsk (Russia) - 2019. The history of the 29th World Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk began in 2012. On January 9, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed an order to the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to start implementing specific measures to prepare Krasnoyarsk for participation in the bid campaign. On September 1, 2012, an application campaign for the Winter and Summer World Universiades 2019 was launched.

The Russian Student Sports Union (RCCU) sent a letter of intent to the President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), Mr. Claude-Louis Gallien, to submit an application to host the 2019 World Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk. In the course of the bidding campaign, the competing cities withdrew their candidacies one by one. Krasnoyarsk was the only one to submit the application book on time. The most difficult stage began - the fight not with rivals, who could be weaker, but with oneself - it was necessary to prove to FISU the powerful potential of the Siberian region for holding international complex competitions for the first time in the history of the region. 9 November 2013 in Brussels, the FISU Commission decided to hold Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk. 29th World Winter Universiade will be held from 2 to 12 March 2019. Athletes will compete for 69 sets of awards in 10 sports.

From the above, we have formulated the theme "Universiade-2019".

Research objectives:

Uncover the history of college sports;

To study the holding of the Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk;

Consider the preparation and projects of the Universiade.

To solve the tasks, the following methods were used: theoretical analysis of scientific and methodological literature.

1. History of student sports

A youth analogue of the Olympics, world student sports games or simply - the Universiade has been the second most important and comprehensive international event in the world sports arena for more than 50 years.

For the first time, the idea of holding world sports competitions among students was announced in 1923 at an international student conference. However, up to the 50s of the last century, these competitions were not massive and were not a prestigious event.

A new page in the history of the student sports movement was opened in 1959, when the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) and the International Union of Students (IUU) took over the Games for Youth. The large-scale sports festival was intended to melt the ice in the relations between the West and the countries of the Soviet camp, formed during the Cold War, and to become a platform for uniting young people from just recently hostile countries. So, on the territory of the Italian city of Turin, for the first time in history, large-scale international sports competitions for students were held. They got their name - Universiade - from the merger of two words: "university" and "Olympiad".

The first Universiade of 1959 in Turin marked the beginning of a tradition that is carefully maintained to this day - not the national anthem of his country is played at the award ceremony in honor of the winner, but the famous musical symbol of students - "Gaudeamus".

The success of the Universiade in Turin, which brought together more than 1400 athletes from 43 countries, gave a start to the rapid development of the international student sports movement. Already in 2005, in Izmir, Turkey, the number of participants in the Summer Universiade reached a record 7805 people. And the most extensive geography of the Games was noted in 2003 in Daegu (South Korea), when 174 countries sent their representatives to the competition.

Unlike the Olympic cycle of four years, youth competitions are held every two years. Students, postgraduates and you graduates of the two previous graduations at the age from 17 to 28 years old are allowed to participate in the competition.

The Summer Universiade program includes 13 compulsory sports: athletics, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, swimming, diving, basketball, fencing, football, volleyball, water polo, table tennis, judo.

Within the framework of the Winter Universiade, awards are played in 7 types: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice hockey, short track, speed skating, figure skating, curling.

At the request of the host country, additional sports can be included in the Universiade program.

In total, 25 summer and 24 winter Universiades have already taken place.

2. Holding the Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk

Winter Universiade 2019 is a student sports competition of the 29th (XXIX) World Winter Universiade, which will be held in 2019 in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk. Previously, the Winter Universiades were not held either in the USSR or in Russia. Of the proposals put forward since 2010 by the Russian cities of Sochi, Yekaterinburg and Krasnoyarsk, the proposal of Krasnoyarsk was supported at the federal level and in January 2012 received an official confirmation. From that moment on, the city on the Yenisei River received the status of a representative of Russia in the bid campaign for the right to host the 2019 Universiade. The choice was determined, first of all, by the desire and possibility of the Krasnoyarsk Territory to host student games. The capital of the region is one of the student population centers in the country where the Siberian Federal University is located.

For the Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, it is planned to use the following sports facilities: the Central Stadium, the Arena-Sever ice palace, the Ivan Yarygin, Biathlon Academy, Winter Sports Academy, Bobrovy Log Fanpark. Additional construction of two ice rinks with a capacity of at least 3,500 people is envisaged.

Potential candidates could submit official applications to host the Universiade until autumn 2012. On May 11, 2013, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) announced that Krasnoyarsk (Russia) and St. Gallen (Switzerland) remain official candidates. On November 9, 2013 in Brussels (Belgium), the International University Sports Federation chose Krasnoyarsk as the host city of the 2019 Winter Universiade by voting.

Student Games in Krasnoyarsk will take place from 2 to 12 March 2019. The Universiade program includes 8 compulsory sports (hockey, short track, figure skating, curling, alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing and biathlon). At the stage of the application campaign, the organizing party offered 2 optional types (orienteering and freestyle). Around 3,000 athletes from all over the world are expected. The city is preparing to receive over 10,000 guests. Games in Krasnoyarsk will be the first winter games in Russia! Universiade symbols [edit | edit wiki text]

The Universiade logo is a predominantly snow-white three-dimensional polyhedron-snowball with red and blue solid and dashed edges, executed in the colors of the Russian flag, and corresponding inscriptions with multi-colored Olympic stars from five continents.

The slogans of the Universiade are "Real Winter" (real winter) and "Welcome to Winter" (welcome to winter).

The corporate slogan REALWINTER.

The corporate slogan WELCOME TO WINTER! 100% WINTER.

The mascot of the Universiade "U Laika" is a white Siberian husky standing on its hind legs with a raised right forepaw in greeting with a red scarf around its neck, a symbol of energy, joy, friendliness and loyalty.

3. Preparation and projects of the Universiade

Krasnoyarsk will spend less money on preparations for the Universiade, as some facilities, such as the Fanpark Bobrovy Log ski complex, the Biathlon Academy and the Arena. North ”are already functioning on its territory. By 2015, the construction of the facilities of the Academy of Winter Sports will be completed. “Thus, we will already be able to host the“ street ”sports of the Universiade - alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon and snowboarding,” comments Sergei Kochan, head of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Krasnoyarsk lacks three ice palaces with a capacity of 3.5 thousand seats each and a large ice "ten-thousander", where the opening and closing of the Universiade will take place. In addition to sports facilities, the city will also need a student village for 3,000 people with modern information and medical centers.

"DK" saw what Krasnoyarsk could become by 2019, if it still manages to win the competition for holding sports student competitions.

The Master Plan is one of the main documents in preparation for the World Universiade. Its creation is a mandatory requirement of FISU for the capital of the Student Games.

The master plan is an integrated timetable for the future development and functioning of the ANO Executive Directorate of the 29th World Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk during the preparation and holding of the 2019 Universiade, which indicates the main functional areas, tasks and activities, as well as terms of their implementation.

In October 2014, version 1.0 of the Master Plan was approved by the FISU Executive Committee members and personally by FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien.

The first version of the master plan includes two sections:

a strategic section containing key statistical information about the host city, the principles and methodology for developing the document, the content of the sports program of the Games, client groups, the management system, risk management, the concept of the 2019 Winter Universiade, its mission, goals, objectives, legacy, etc .;

functional section, in which 49 functional areas of preparation for the Universiade are spelled out both separately and in cooperation with each other.

The master plan allows you to:

ensure the management of the main list of tasks of the functional areas of the Directorate in preparation for the Universiade 2019;

plan the number of the Games staff within the organizational structure of the Directorate;

develop and implement programs and projects;

carry out centralized control of key stages of preparation for the Games at all levels;

receive regular end-to-end reporting, timely and reliable information for decision-making;

support an innovative approach to the implementation of key events in preparation for the 2019 Universiade.

The implementation of each task implies the responsibility of the Directorate, as well as the involvement of other stakeholders - participants in the preparation and conduct of the Games.

The master plan is closely related to the processes of budget and resource planning, within the framework of which the necessary human resources and budget are calculated on the basis of the formed programs and projects. The Master Plan will be used to monitor the project activities of the Directorate, for external use and reporting to FISU.

Monitoring of the implementation of the Master Plan is carried out through periodic organization (several times a year) of teleconferences, visits of FISU experts, meetings of the FISU Executive Committee, meetings of the Coordination Commission and the Supervisory Board, General Assemblies and other reporting events.

The result of the reporting activities will be a list of instructions / recommendations and the dates assigned to them (checkpoints), which will become mandatory for the Organizing Committee and will be included in subsequent versions of the Master Plan.

The second version of the Master Plan must be submitted by the Directorate for approval to the FISU Executive Committee in November 2015.

All this diversity of meanings is reflected in the developed symbolism and the general visual concept of the Universiade. The basis for the graphic implementation was the idea of DIFFERENCE, TRANSFORMATION AND GAME.
