Selection of the first videos. How to choose and where to buy quality videos? What are the names of the rollers with large wheels?

Which videos to choose !?

The first and most important criteria are quality and convenience.
In our Shop there is a large selection of models of the leading manufacturers of roller skates from the Seba "SEBA" and Rollerblade "ROLLERBLADE" companies. From experience, they are more likely to suit most buyers in both dimensions.
In the Store section (in the "Children's videos" tab) there are models of roller skates created especially for beginners, young skaters.

How to choose the right one !?

When trying on, it is best to use special moisture-wicking socks, they can almost always be found in specialized stores, in which riding will be more comfortable, and most importantly, the leg will remain dry.
If your toes barely touch the front edge with a tight heel, then this is most likely your size. To understand how the last fits the leg, you need to ride for 10 minutes or at least stand, the knees should be slightly bent. It is worth remembering that over time, felt boots wear out a little and take the shape of a leg.
Usually the first thing we pay attention to is the price. The average price for high-quality fitness videos today is on average from six thousand and more, the price can also be influenced by the year of release. Very often, and in my opinion it is quite justified, our students take a model, seba frkh Excellent value for money, great for both quiet riding in the park and active in the city, with jumps and brakes.
The diameter of the wheels affects the speed. Large diameter wheels develop high speed and support it better, but maneuverability is lost, it becomes more difficult to turn
When choosing children's rollers, you need to proceed from the convenience for the child, first of all, and from the level of the child's skating, for example: a child seeking to participate in competitions is unlikely to succeed in ordinary sliding rollers, which can be indispensable at the beginning of the journey for most, for more professional Ceba Junior are more suitable for them, by the way, the size in them is also regulated, but with the help of an insole. And the last tip, it is better not to waste time, but immediately sign up to a professional roller school instructor Rekil Rekil
Interview with Roman Gordin the head of the Rollerball school Rekil in St. Petersburg and the Skate town rollerdrome, the president of the Roller Sports Federation of St. Petersburg, a multiple participant and winner of World and national competitions.

The choice of rollers becomes much easier when we understand what we want to do, and in which direction we plan to move after gaining basic skills: just ride along the paths in the park or participate in roller runs long distances, jump from a great height, twisting degrees or go around beautifully cones, slide on rails, or drive at high speeds.

What are the videos and what are they for

1) Fitness videos

The most widespread and popular type of roller is fitness skates.

A characteristic feature of fitness rollers is a soft boot, which usually provides a greater degree of comfort and softness for the foot. Fitness rollers are good for recreation, rolling along paths and alleys in parks and along embankments, but not more. Do not try to jump or perform complex balance tricks on fitness rollers: you risk not only damaging the rollers, but also injuring yourself, because such rollers are not designed for loads. The frame can be either composite (dampens bumps on the road) or metal (better transfers force, bumps are felt better), the diameter of the wheels is usually from 76 to 90 mm.

"Fitness" will suit you if you have never tried to skate and do not know for sure whether this wonderful sport will add to you. When choosing, you should pay attention to the company, the best manufacturers of fitness rollers, Rollerblade and K2, have recommended themselves. The boot should sit tightly on the leg, without painful sensations, at first the leg may swell or rub a little, but this quickly disappears after a short run)

Some firms make boots a little narrower, others a little wider by the same size: for example, usually Rollerblade boots are much narrower than K2 ones, it is better to try on several pairs and ride around the store for ten minutes to make the right choice.

2) Freeskate rollers

Classic freeskating skates can be recognized by their tough, plastic boot with a distinctive long tongue, a puffy padded liner and metal frame, a tall, hard plastic cafe and hockey-like lacing.

Freeskate skates are universal: they are great for fitness and simple skiing around the city, many even skate slalom on them, at an initial and intermediate level, but their main and main purpose is freeskating, that is, active city skiing with jumps, slides, sharp turns and braking, in short - free skating)) Such rollers are perfect for those who have already tried to ride fitness or rolling rollers and want to progress by developing and mastering the endless expanses of roller sports and beyond.

When choosing freeskate rollers, you need to remember that a boot tends to wear out a lot under serious loads, many freeskaters take rollers one size smaller, so if the rollers press a little, it's even good, the main thing is not to overdo it.

The best freeskate skates today are produced by Seba, and such models as Seba FR and Seba FRX are especially popular in the roller-skating community, by the way, the second model gained popularity due to its low price and high quality.

3) Aggressive rollers

Similar to freeskating, but slightly more massive, heavier and wider. Designed for jumping, aggressive riding in skate parks, in ramps and specially designed sports grounds, with sliding along the edges and railings. If you are not confident in your skills and do not dream of becoming an agressive star, it is better to save your health and buy freeskate videos.

Small wheel diameter and low frame provide good stability on landings and departures. The disadvantage of such rollers is a strong limitation in possibilities - the weight and small wheels will not allow you to enjoy driving around the city, although there are no rollers better for a skate park)

4) Slalom rollers

Slalom skates are more like figure skating skates than freeskate boots, although they have a lot in common: hard cuffs, metal frames and a relatively high price, tight fit of the foot (usually much stiffer than in the soft liners of freeskate boots). Rigid fixation allows you to perform ballance tricks on one wheel, with high control, provides greater maneuverability and mobility of the foot.

You should not jump on slalom rollerblades, and generally actively ride around the city, although many freeskaters slide on top slalom models. If the videos are rubbing or crushing you, do not despair! it will soon pass when the boot flips a little under the foot, or the foot under the boot)

5) Rollers for speed skating

Almost a complete analogue of boots designed for speed skating, long frames, large wheel diameter. If speed is your element, then go ahead))) First you should try advanced fitness on large wheels with a long frame, so as not to break the wood. Such videos really allow you to gain great speed, but experience and good technique are needed to fully use them for their intended purpose.

6) Hockey rollers

At first glance, they look like slalom, but the setting of the wheels and the shape of the boot are slightly different. Rigid fixation, tight lacing, increased maneuverability and tightness around the foot and, most importantly, lightness - these are the distinctive features of hockey rollers.

Literally - hockey skates on a metal roller frame. When choosing videos, you should pay attention to the company and how comfortable you feel after 10 minutes spent in them. An important help in choosing rollers is an experienced guide, which can be played by the seller.

All sellers in the Rollerclub and Skatetown stores undergo special training and education, all have extensive experience in roller skating and have knowledge of the intricacies of parts manufacturing and their use. many of them are well-known competitors.

If you don't want to overpay and value quality, buy videos from Rollerclub or Skatetown.

Rollers are one of the fastest and most agile ways to move around the city. The choice of model depends on the riding style: will you only occasionally ride in the nearest park and embankment, or are you more attracted by tricks, or do you want speed?

For beginners

If you are a complete beginner, then you should opt for fitness models.

Such rollers are produced with a soft boot, they are necessarily equipped with a standard brake, which in the future, with the improvement of skills, can be removed. The frame is elongated, which reduces maneuverability, but increases stability - this is especially important for those who are just starting to ride. In addition, these rollers are usually cheaper in comparison with other models.

Beginners shouldn't neglect protection. Otherwise, the very first encounter with the asphalt can forever discourage (in every sense) the desire to improve further.

Even if you do not plan to skate a lot and for a long time, it is better to buy fitness rollers in specialized stores, and not in the nearest supermarket. Leading Producers - K2, Rollerblade, Powerslide, Fila and Bladerunner.

For experienced skaters

Rollers who are tired of walking in familiar parks and who want to go out into the city should take a closer look at the freeskate models. Those who already ride confidently and know how to stop without the help of a regular brake will cope with such rollers (stops with the help of poles and fences do not count).

These models are designed for tricks and interesting slides. Visually, they differ from fitness rollers in a very close arrangement of wheels, lack of a brake and a short frame.

Even if you don't plan on jumping and rolling around the cones, freeskate rollers outperform fitness models in terms of maneuverability, which is especially important for comfortable movement around the city.

If you are more interested in riding around the city, rather than tricks, take the freeskate rollers with a removable inner liner of the boot (it is also sometimes called "felt boot"). In such models, the leg will be softer, and you will be able to ventilate the "felt boot" between rides.

Freeskate roller makers are Rollerblade, K2 and Seba, and Powerslide and Head have separate models.

For tricks

If it's hard to figure out on your own whether you like the tricks, go for a ride in the rollerdrome with an instructor or find like-minded people on social networks.

For sliding and rolling around the cones, the same freeskate rollers are intended. But in this case, the choice should fall on hard boots with a non-removable inner part, which will allow you to better feel the skate when riding. Manufacturers - Seba and Rollerblade.

Aggressive riding involves honing tricks in a skate park, using railings and ramps, so these rollers have a special notch on the frame. Target manufacturers USD, Razors, Valo, Remz, Xsjado, SSM, K2, Rollerblade and Seba.

You can ride in such rollers around the city, for this they are quite maneuverable, but it will not be entirely comfortable because of the rather stiff boot.

For high-speed skiing and long distances

For high-speed skiing, special models of rollers are produced with a non-standard frame for enlarged wheels. If you can put four wheels of 80–84 mm in size on all previous models, then 3-4 wheels with a diameter of 125 mm are installed on high-speed rollers. These rollers are the best to overcome uneven surfaces and keep the speed.

Suitable for those who already ride confidently, plans to use rollers to move around the city, where the asphalt surface leaves much to be desired. More information about speed skating can be found on the official website of the Speed Skating League.

What to look for when trying on

When you have decided on the direction of skiing, it's time to go to the store. And even if you are more attracted by prices in, when buying rollers, like shoes, you cannot do without preliminary fitting. But no one forbids trying on and finding a suitable model in the store, and then buying it online.

Rollers are divided into male and female, this division is especially noticeable in fitness models. And this is not some kind of another marketing ploy - it's about the peculiarities of the anatomy. In women, the calf muscles are larger, so the notch in the upper part of the boot will be deeper and lower than in the men's models.

The rollers should sit comfortably, securely fix the leg, but not pinch it.

When trying on, put your foot on the heel and only then tighten the laces and straps - this will help you not to make a mistake with the size and correctly fix the skate. Do not hesitate to walk around and ride in the model you like for 20 minutes in the store, so you will make sure that it suits you.

Remember: the shorter the frame and the closer the wheels are, the more comfortable it will be for you to maneuver on these casters. The longer the frame, the more stable you will be when riding in a straight line.

Pay attention to bearings, all models will show ABEC classification.

The higher the ABEC number, the higher the precision of the bearing.

ABEC 3 is found in inexpensive roller skates and children's models, so you should not take such bearings. It is better if you have bearings of the ABEC level 5 or 7 - they have higher machining accuracy of the balls. But ABEC 9 is needed only for those who ride on large wheels (more than standard 84 mm): on the usual difference between ABEC 7 and 9 you will not feel.

You can also buy hand-held videos. In thematic groups on social networks, there are a lot of offers for the sale of such skates: either the previous owners realized that they did not like this type of recreation, or experienced skaters went broke for a more interesting model and are selling the old one.

When buying used rollers, find out in advance if the model you like has thermoforming.

If there is one, you should not take such rollers: the boot has already adjusted to the features of the previous owner's feet. The wheels will most likely have to be replaced with new ones and the bearings washed. Thus, the final price will be slightly higher than what you will see in the ad.

An important point: do not spare the money for special socks.

Outwardly, they resemble knee-highs, the toe and heel are compacted, and the part under the foot is made of pleasant terry cloth. These socks will protect you from where the foot touches the upper hard part of the boot, they perfectly absorb sweat and help to fix the foot in the skate even better.

What kind of roller skates do you ride? How do you like or dislike the chosen model?

How to choose the right rollers (roller skates?)

People who roller skate are called rollers. Probably, they also mesmerized you with their skating, since you decided to choose roller skates.

When choosing roller skates, the main thing is that your feet are comfortable in them, as well as that they match your capabilities and skills. After all, there are roller skates specifically for fast driving, there are roller skates for tricks, and there are roller skates for simple skating. For beginners, ordinary roller skates are best suited, in which they can learn all the nuances of roller skating.

How to choose the right videos?

Construction (structure) of roller skates

Roller skates consist of a boot, wheels, a frame on which the wheels are held, cuffs, as well as clips, straps and laces.

Beginner skaters should pay special attention when choosing the type of roller skates. So they should not buy rollers with reduced wheel size. Since such rollers are made specifically for performing tricks, riding on the rails. And having made a choice in favor of such roller skates, it will be difficult for you (if you are a beginner) to learn how to roller skate (it may never work out), and you can pretty much spoil your personal attitude to this sport. The more wheels the rollers have, the faster they are able to drive. You, at first, do not need fast driving. Therefore, you can limit yourself to four wheels. And to refuse rollers with five wheels and a low boot, since they are designed for high-speed driving and will not be particularly convenient for training, since they do not have good controllability. When choosing rollers, you need to pay attention to the presence of a brake, because you will need to brake. It will be especially useful to you at first.

Rollers boot

The most important function of the boot is to support the feet, which means that the level of balance and comfort depends on it. In order for you to be comfortable, you need to choose a boot of your size and type that you like. Boot types: hard, soft and combined.

Americans prefer soft lace-up boots, while Europeans prefer stiff boots with buckles.

In a hard boot, the leg is well fixed, and it perfectly protects the leg from impacts. Hard boot made of plastic, with a soft toe inside. This model provides good ventilation of the legs. The disadvantages of hard boots are the difficulty of cleaning them, as well as the fact that sometimes you can choose a model where there will be insufficient fixation of the leg, which will lead to a loss of balance.

Roller skates with soft boots have recently become fashionable and have become very popular. They provide good fixation of the joints of the feet, and therefore you can perform complex tricks. And you will feel comfortable in them, almost like in sneakers, since they are soft and flexible. True, these videos will be more difficult to master than rollers with a hard boot.

Combined boots are the sweet spot. There is a soft boot and plastic reinforcements. In such a shoe, the leg is well fixed, and it has a shock-resistant function (i.e. protects the leg).

Do not forget the main rule when choosing boots - you should be comfortable and comfortable in them. Therefore, search and measure boots until you find those that actually fit you, and you are comfortable and comfortable in them. And then it will be a pleasure for you to ride such rollers, not a torment.

Wheels

The quality of the rollers is most influenced by the size of the wheels and the material from which they are made. The main criteria for wheels are diameter, profile, stiffness and rim. With large wheels you drive faster, with smaller wheels you can maneuver better. Wheels with a diameter of 72-78 mm are most common.

For beginners, it is better to choose wheels with a diameter of 70-72 mm, and for professionals, you can choose up to 80 mm. For relaxation, a wheel diameter of 72-76 mm is suitable. For tricks 55-67 mm (the profile of these wheels is almost flat, which means that they are very stable, which is important when performing tricks). Special rollers with a diameter of 78-82 mm are allowed to develop high speed and maintain it for a long time.

The hardness of the wheels is indicated by the durometry index. The higher this index is, the harder the wheels are. The most popular inline skate hardness ranges from 78A to 82A. Soft wheels are better maneuvering, have more traction (with the road) and are good at dampening vibration. Hard wheels (with a high hardness index) are more efficient to use when riding on smooth surfaces, on which they are able to ride faster. The body weight of the roller itself is also important. After all, if a person weighs a lot, then he is easily able to squeeze soft wheels. Therefore, people with a large weight are more desirable to choose solid wheels.

Wheel elasticity - the higher it is, the better.

Be careful not to fall for cheap casters with plastic wheels. These rollers are difficult to ride. And the sound will come from them just excellent (in a bad sense) - they will crack. Therefore, it is better not to be happy if you come across cheap roller skates - most likely, they are not of very high quality. That is, when choosing, you also need to look at the price.

Wheel bearings

It is necessary that the bearings are in good working order, because with broken ones you are unlikely to go anywhere. Alloy steel bearings are more wear-resistant, but more expensive than bearings made of carbon materials. Two types of grease are often used for bearings: grease-impregnated and oil-impregnated. Better water resistance, albeit more inert, grease-impregnated bearing. And the oil-impregnated bearing spins faster because it has less resistance to rotation. In order not to miscalculate with bearings, it is better to choose rollers of brands that have already proven themselves (for example, Salomon, Rollerblade, K2) and not to chase cheap rollers.

Frame

The frame is designed to hold the wheels and is often attached to the bottom of the boot. It can be made of three types of material: metal, plastic and composite materials. Metal frames are tough, durable and are mainly used for speed skates or hockey skates. Less rigid and durable are plastic frames. And the most expensive and difficult to manufacture are frames made of composite materials - they are distinguished by great rigidity and the ability to well reduce vibration that is transmitted from the surface on which the roller is rolling. Frame lengths range from 10 "to 16".

Other roller parts

A clip is a mechanical fastener with which the boot is attached and fixed to the foot. The clip is convenient in that it can be quickly fastened, unlike laces, which will take more time to properly lace up. Although the lacing is better able to fix the roller skate on the foot.

Pay attention to good ventilation of the rollers. The best ventilation of the boot is created not by holes in the plastic, but by the mesh fabric.
We hope that our tips will help you choose the right roller skates (rollers).

Why do you need inline skates with three wheels? How do they differ from four-wheeled vehicles, what are their advantages and is it worth buying?

Let's figure it out in this article!

How did tricycle rollers come about?

In the past few years, 3-wheel roller skates have been creating a buzz around them.

It all started in 2015, when Powerslide (a German manufacturer of high-quality roller skates) introduced the first three-wheeled model on which you could do speed skating, freeskating or just move around the city with great comfort.

The manufacturer simply removed one wheel and increased the rest to a diameter of 125 mm!

This is about 2 times more than the casters in the classic children's model.

Powerful? Still would! This is the largest wheel diameter for roller skates today.

Literally immediately after the release of this model, a real "boom" began in the modern history of roller sports.

  • All rollers hunted and are still hunting with the aim to buy rollers of this model only.
  • One in three filmed YouTube reviews
  • The International Speed Skating Federation even allowed participation in marathons on wheels with a diameter of 125 mm (before that, rollers with wheels up to 110 mm were allowed).

By the way, the winner in the first marathon with the “new rules” was the 125th athlete from Powerslide. Naturally, other manufacturers also started producing similar models.

Inline skates SWELL

There are tons of innovative models out there today, and most are from the same Powerslide folks.

They have developed a whole series of high-speed and comfortable ones, which are considered one of the best on the market:

  • superior comfort;
  • high speed;
  • the possibility of molding the boot individually under the foot in a special oven;
  • the most stylish colors.

Advantages of tricycle rollers

Let's move on to the main differences and advantages:

  • Speed... This point cannot be disputed in any way. With just one coasting, you can easily overtake a four-wheeled vehicle, which is trying in vain to maintain its speed.
  • Maneuverability... The center of gravity is located on the middle wheel, which means that the rollers can sense the slightest movement. This is very helpful in slalom dodging cones and also for improved “double push” or “double push” techniques.
  • Trinity... All Powerslide's new three-wheelers are equipped with the Trinity three-point system - a frame that has not 2 bindings, but 3, which are located in the areas of increased sensitivity of the foot in order to get maximum control.
  • Low center of gravity... With the help of a new frame and boot, the wheels were pushed as close as possible to the boot and to each other. As a result, on the 125s, you feel like 110mm.
  • Savings on spare parts... Fewer wheels - fewer bearings and wheels will need to be replaced in the future, incl. and due to the higher quality and abrasion resistance.
  • Perspective... Powerslide is so keen on this topic that they tirelessly develop not only the brand, but also improve the models by leaps and bounds from season to season.

Literally every month, new three-wheelers are released in a variety of colors with new accessories including frames, bags and wheels.

Advantages of four wheel casters

Where are the good old four-wheelers still good at?

  • Control... The center of gravity is between the second and third wheels, which means the leg will not react so strongly to the slightest movement. This item is a great advantage, first of all, if you choose children's videos or a model for beginners, and not for professionals.
  • Slides... 4 wheels are also good for this, especially since until 2015 this type of roller was the only option for slalom.
  • Comfort... On four-wheel rollers, vibration is better "damped" when rolling on uneven surfaces.
  • Price... Still, four-wheeled models are more affordable, but every season they are more and more inferior in technology and innovative "chips" to three-wheeled vehicles.

Should you buy 3 wheel casters?

There is no definite answer to this question.

4 wheels is a classic that has gathered millions of loyal fans around the world in its circles, the history of which stretches for several decades!

At the same time, 3 wheels today are not just a novelty, but a trend, technology and the future, which is preferred by more and more amateur and professional roller skaters.

A natural question that arises when buying any thing - "Why do you need it?" I am sure that everyone who decides to join the skates has their own incentive to start skating "immediately", and now the most important thing is that the seller in the store understands what exactly is required and helps to choose the "very" model. Let's start from the very beginning ...

To the natural reaction "What can you suggest?" the young man behind the counter will give out what he has learned: "Rollers for recreation, for fitness (i.e. for frequent skating, and playing sports and keeping fit), for playing hockey, for speed skating and for aggressive skating) ". It turns out there are so many Rollers ...

To simplify the picture of the choice, ask yourself the question, why do you need videos ??? What would you like more - to ride along the paths, parks, streets and be mobile or "hang out" in one place, periodically getting up from the bench to hone jumps and other spectacular pieces.

The answer is good, but when you try to find out in detail how they differ, then vague answers and indistinct mumbling of the same thing will begin! Here's an example of a question that can baffle 95% of sellers: "Why should I ride on soft wheels and low-grade bearings in leisure roller skates and end up putting in more effort, while fitness and sports models can achieve the same results with significantly less effort ??? " The snag of this question is in the interpretation of the style, based on the literal translation of the English name from the manufacturers' catalogs into Russian, which in fact very incorrectly reflects its essence. And there can be a lot of such questions :))

So let's start with the differences between riding styles:

Leisure casters - no miracles other than comfort and low prices

Videos of the RECREATION section in the manufacturers' catalog (in Russian - aka rest).

Ask to show the most inexpensive skates in the lineup of any company and you will see these skates. Inline skates in this category are designed for skaters who do not impose any special requirements both on the skates themselves and on speed (or do not yet apply :))

No technocratic miracles other than comfort - that's the motto of these videos. Such rollers have a plastic frame, boots without bells and whistles, wheels are softer and of a small diameter (up to 80 mm) - everything for comfort and easy learning to ride.

This allows manufacturers to make recreational videos the most affordable. That is, these are videos for:

  • beginners
  • skating occasionally - from time to time

Hockey Rollers

HOCKEY (hockey) - an interesting attempt by manufacturers to combine the speed of fitness skates and the stability of aggressive ones. The main differences from other rollers are in the structure of the wheel, and this, perhaps, is really one of the most successful solutions in terms of universality, i.e. faster than aggressive wheels and more stable and impact resistant than fitness wheels. However, it should be noted that the properties of hockey wheels do not come close to the best performance in any of these criteria. To increase maneuverability, roller hockey boots are stiffened, which negatively affects the ride comfort "outside of hockey".

Off road rollers

The OFF ROAD rollers (SUVs) are even more exotic and, rather, already rare models. These models feel confident "outside the pavement", namely on trodden paths, dense soil and even on some types of grass. But do not flatter yourself, they still do not go through mud, sand and gravel - they will have to run: (((

And on the asphalt, they do not behave very well - they have tread wheels. The peak of the fashion for SUVs came in 1998, and they were bought mainly in order to stand out from the crowd.

Traditionally, Russian skaters have split into two ideological camps - fitness and aggressive. Moreover, the "fitness" includes the entire mass of the owners of rollers for recreation, slalom and speed skaters-speed skaters. Freeskaters stand somewhat apart - semi-fitness and semi-aggressive :)))

Don't forget one more thing! If you are a sports person, have the skills of figure skating, ice hockey, downhill skiing, or just an enthusiastic and emotional person, then think strongly before buying rollers for "rest", because you will very quickly step over the bar of a "beginner" - and you will want more. In this case, I advise you to immediately look at high-quality fitness or rollers for slalom and freeskate.

What you need to buy with the rollers.
