  1. Buy several pipes made of metal with round and square sections, chipboard sheet, foam rubber and sheathing material (for armrests and back supports).
  2. First you need to prepare square pipes. For work, you will need two segments of 40, three of 55, two of 65 and one of 75 cm.
  3. Then pipes with a circular cross section are cut. The length of one segment is 75 cm, the next two - 20. And then 6 more pieces are cut into a length of 15 cm.
  4. All parts must be welded into a single structure.
  5. Rectangles are cut out of chipboard - future armrests and back support. Foam rubber is immediately glued to them and covered with the selected fabric, and then the parts are attached in the proper places.


The wooden surface of the benches should be sheathed according to the "pie" principle. First, microporous rubber is laid (thickness - from 12 mm and more).   • make a frame with racks for the bar, which can be adjusted in height;
  • the base of the lounger is welded to the frame;
  • at the other end as vertical rack a P-profile is installed, on which the movable part of the simulator is assembled, intended for working out the legs and back;
  • 2 parts should be connected at the bottom;
  • so that the simulator does not fold under load, you need to add an emphasis.


The principle of operation is as follows: the cable is passed through the basket block.One end of it goes to a block with a pressure roller (a conventional ball bearing) and attaches to the pipe, which makes it possible to perform thrust top blockloading arms and trapeze. What to choose from

Barbell racks are located in them at the level of the recumbent's shoulders, which greatly reduces the risk of injury: a bar that collapses on the chest with the bar is very serious. 4-support simulators are heavy, cumbersome, and you cannot engage in heavy weights in an apartment: falling to the floor, they give an instant load of 5-8 of their weights, and the bearing capacity of the floors is 250 kg / sq. m.

For living conditions, 3-support simulators are designed, simple and with additional levers for weights, leg supports, athletic desks, etc., pos. 2 and 3. In order for the barbell bar in the 3-support simulator to also fall at shoulder level, their benches are made “breaking”: it is dangerous to take the barbell with your hands behind your head. The length of the safety chain links is taken such that, holding the barbell on fully extended arms, the chains sag, but the bar of the released bar does not reach the chest. To prevent the carabiners from slipping on the neck, it is enough to wrap them with tape. Suddenly the bar will collapse, the scotch tape, of course, will not stand it, both carabiners will slide to one end of the bar, but the matter will manage with fright and, possibly, a broken floor.

About wooden athletic benches

It is impossible to practice with a barbell on wooden sports equipment, their design will not withstand. But in situations arising from the awkwardness of the trainee, the wood "gives off" through the body much less sensitive than metal. Therefore, it is preferable to use wooden benches for press and press for beginners and minors. In addition, wooden sports benches and exercise equipment can be built in the country or in a country house from the remains of building materials.

At the very least, it should be equipped in accordance with sanitary standards. At home, it is not always possible to study at a comfortable temperature, and it is simply technically impossible to arrange a PVV in many city apartments. Therefore, it is advisable to cover homemade athletic benches in the form of such a "pie", following from the base outward:

  • Microporous rubber with a thickness of 12 mm;
  • Furniture foam rubber with a density of 45 (grade 45) with a thickness of 8 mm;
  • Sintepon from 7 mm thick;
  • Denim or stuff like an old-fashioned flannel blanket.

The rubber damper is glued to the base with "Moment" glue or hot glue from a glue gun. The rest of the sheathing layers are tucked to the underside and pinned with a furniture stapler. The disadvantage of such a sheathing is that it needs to be changed once a year, at the end of spring; the rubber layer remains. The soft layers will not corrode, possibly within 3-4 years, but according to sanitary and hygienic requirements, the service life of the textile covering should be reduced to a year.

Hello everyone, my name is Maxim Kachalkin, I am a participant in the do-it-yourself competition on the web site welding. I thought for a long time what to do, there were many versions, but I settled on a multifunctional simulator, since in Russia sport is very expensive and it is cheaper to drink alcohol than to play sports. Many people would like to go in for sports, but financially cannot afford a subscription to a fitness room, and people from the provinces have nowhere to go at all, since they do not even have the simplest rocking chair.

Before starting to make the simulator, I decided to make it in a 3D modeling program in order to make sure whether it would work or not. It took me a long time to find the optimal size and appearance. In the course of working on the 3D model, I periodically changed something and tried to simplify it in every way and make it smaller.

And now I will start the very process of making the simulator. At the end of the description, there will be a link to a video, which will contain all dimensions and drawings.

In order to make a simulator, we need the following material:

  • Prof tube 40x40x2
  • Professional pipe 30x30x2 can also be 40x40x2

  • Metal sheet from 2 to 4 mm

After I have cut all the metal, I start drilling the holes. From the beginning I drilled with a drill with a diameter of 5, then with a drill with a diameter of 10.







Once I have drilled all the holes, I start welding.



When the top and bottom are ready, I proceed to the racks.


After grabbing the entire main body, I proceed to assembling the mechanism (butterfly).






Next, I start making a box for pancakes. In order for the box to go through the pipes gently and without noisy, I thought of something like oil seals (I don't know how to call them correctly) from plastic pipes... Drawings are available at the end of the video.



After I have prepared everything I need, I start assembling.



Next, I proceed to the manufacture of a horizontal bar for pulling the lower block, its dimensions: length up to bending 800 mm, each handle 120 mm long from pipe 20.


Then I start making removable bars. Their size: box - 500 mm by 480 mm, pipe length 500 mm, pipe diameter 25, grip width 480. Gussets are made of professional pipes 30x30x2.



After I boiled everything, cleaned it up, proceeded to the primer, and then to the painting. Ready option.





I checked everything works. Watch the video, where I show partially how it works. Unfortunately, the paint did not dry at that time, but I had to shoot this video clip, as I was leaving for a part-time job.
