Games 1984 were the first after coming to power in the IOC of the Spanish Marquise Juan Antonio Samaransch. Therefore, the competition was largely experimental. Winter Olympics in the first and last time he received a socialist country. True, the vote in which Sarajevo went around Gothenburg and Sapporo, took place two years before the election of Samaranch. The arrival of white games to the Balkans was used as a reason to expand the geography of snow and ice sports. BEFORE THE STORM

The main event of the Games 1984 for Soviet Sport was the victory of the USSR national team in the Hockey tournament and the third Olympic gold in the career of the famous goalkeeper Vladislav Tretyak, who after Sarayev completed the international career. In full-time duel, take revenge from Americans for the "Miracle 1980" to our hockey players - the US team fell into another subgroup and did not get to the final stage. The Viktor Tikhonov team won all eight matches with a total score of 58: 6. None of the opponents could hit the gate of the Soviet team more than once per match. Canadians have long achieved the right to use players who are deducted in the NHL. But as a result, Hockey's hectares still remained without the Olympic medals.

Soviet skier Nikolai Zimatov in an unequal battle with Swede Gunda Svaman managed to snatch the fourth Olympic gold in his career. The Finnish skier of the Sarajevsky skiing was the Finnish skier of Marya Lisa Khämälyainen, who was ahead of the Soviet favorite of the competition of Raisu Smetanin and won all three individual distances. Subsequently, the iron finish, the daughter of the Olympic champion-1960 in the ski marathon of Kalevi Khämälyanen, will be the first in the history of a woman who took part in six Olympiads. At the same time, Marya Lisa managed to avoid doping exposures, which touched the many of her rivals and girlfriends on the national team, as well as her husband - Skier Harry Kirvisniemi.

For the first time in the history of the USSR, the championship in the competitions of dance duets in figure skating - Natalia Bestimyanova and Andrei Bukin lost the first place to the impeccable British Jane Torvill and Christopher Dina, who for the execution of their "bolero" received from judges 12 of maximum grades 6.0 from 18 possible. A serious competition of dancer champions in the number of fans amounted to 19-year-old Katharina Witt, quickly turned into a sex symbol of all winter sports. Western media will soon be called Witt "the most beautiful face of socialism," and Stati (secret police of the GDR), having received the task to prevent the flight to the West to the West, will gather an eight-year dossier from 1354 pages to the figure skater. However, shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Katharina will still conclude a contract with an ice show in the United States.

Cool slopes

The battle of subtitle men - Finna Matti Nyukann and East German Yens Weisflog - identified a new trend in jumping from the springboard. From this point on, the weight of all elite jumpers will begin to decline rapidly that in the future will force the international ski federation to deal with "flying skeletons". The new word in the Olympic movement was the performance on the Saraeva Senegalents ski slopes Lamin Gaye - the first representative of Black Africa in winter games. Special sports success lives in Paris did not achieve, but then took part in two Olympiads, and in 2000 he became famous for the expansion of quotas for "small countries" during the selection of games.

On the mountain slopes of the 1984, many colorful characters were gathered at all. So, a student from Ljubljana Jura Franco won silver for the owners of the Olympiad - Yugoslavia - the first reward of the country in the history of the winter games. In subsequent years, skiers from the former Yugoslav Republics of Slovenia and Croatia will add to her another 15 Olympic awards. In the slalom at the 1984 Olympics, the first seats were taken by American twin brothers Phil and Steve Mare. And both performed against the background of numerous injuries. Perhaps with them the athlete from our team Alexander Firov, who took the third place in the general competition of the World Cup in 1981. But a year before Sarayev, the most talented Soviet skier died in a car accident at the age of 24.

However, the GDR team was awarded the greatest amount of gold medals. The Finnish team received 13 medals - 4 gold, 3 silver, 6 bronze.

Another example of unnecessary and abandonment of Olympic facilities - Sarajevo, where the winter Olympics of 1984 was held. But unlike Athens, there is a completely different story and reasons. In less than ten years after the end of the games in Yugoslavia, war broke out, and this territory went to Bosnia. During the battles, many Olympic facilities were completely destroyed or abandoned and came into a deep decline. With them now, you can see in this post.

The symbol of the Olympics chose in an open competition, in which the Slovenian illustrator Joseph Trobets defeated, and the symbol became the wolf-tree of Vuccko.

Another symbol of the Olympics is an angular snowflake, which still decorates the urban landscape of Sarajevo. Volchonok and Snowflake and to this day are in high demand among tourists, in souvenir shops and stores of antiques, even now you can buy an attributes with these symbols. I, for example, bought a magnet with Vuccko. In Athens, I did not meet this, although the Olympics passed not so long ago relative to Sarajevo.

Olympic Games are scattered in different parts of the city and beyond, so to see everything, you need to get it very good and spend a lot of time. Given that we were on your car, time went for it almost all day. Those tourists who are going to Sarajevo without cars, note that no public transport does not go to these facilities. There is an option to buy guide services, which will fly into a penny, taxis or getting on the travelers. The most easily accessible object is the stadium where the opening and closing ceremony took place in the very center of Sarajevo. Nearby is a pillar with symbols of the Olympic Games, which is now used to advertise McDonalds, whose logo is posted on the side.

Park and territory near the stadium during the war turned into a cemetery.

Another photo of wartime, on the background of the Kosevo stadium, where all the ceremonies took place.

Now this territory looks like this.

Stadium nevertheless was renovated in 1998. But, unfortunately, not all Olympic facilities have found a new life.

The next interesting object is bobslene and sledge tracks in Mount Trebevic. At the entrance to them, you can see the elements of the gutter, which, apparently, served as a demonstration.

What is interesting, in Yugoslavia there has never been a sanny-bobslene sport, so the track was built from scratch, and team members were gained from representatives of other sports.

The route, built in just a year, became proud of Yugoslavia. Singing Mount Kilovich, repeated her natural landscape.

For the construction, which went through all international standards, spent record-free at the time of 10 million dollars. In the future, at its base, it was planned to create a sports school and continue to train the athletes of Yugoslavia to the following competitions. By the way, the World Cup competitions and the Championships of the country were still held on this Sanno-Bobslenaway.

But it came 1991. And during the war, a cool modern route with comfortable sides of the military was used to organize fireproof artillery.

Now she has become a favorite place for adventure seekers, as well as creativity and connoisseurs of Street Art. I am not a lover of such art, but sometimes very beautiful.

Place of overclocking

Honestly, before the acquaintance from this track was never fond of Bobslem and did not even think that the gutter is designed to be able to change the configuration of the track.

So looks like systems that provide this opportunity.

It was possible to walk through the entire highway entirely.

With concrete gutters, they are advised not to go, mines can still be found in the forest.

During our walks, we met one person with a metal detector who apparently engaged in their search. The treasure in these places can only be found.

By the way, from the very top of Mount Villaskić offers a stunning view of the whole city.

The most distant object is a springboard in the town of a little field on the mountain Imeman.

On the way to the tramplines you can see the hotel Igman, built to the Olympic Games. The building is huge and with unusual architecture. During the war, he was used by Muslim Bosnians as a prison for Serbian soldiers. As a result, in 1993, the building used for less than 8 years was burned. After the end of the war, the government was trying to sell the hotel many times. In 2004, the price was 2.5 million euros. Buyers never found that it was not surprising.

A little more from the hotel and you are already near the springboard.

The most interesting can be seen if climb on the very top.

I do not know how you, but I always get terribly, if you look at the springboard. What metal should have eggs from athletes who jump from here?

And, finally, the Olympic Village, which remained on the outskirts of Sarajevo.
